Vol. 246 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Public Relations Consultant.

1.

asked the Taoiseach if a public relations consultant (name supplied) has ever been employed by any Government Department; if so, which Department; the nature of the work; the fees paid; and whether he is currently employed by any Department.

I am informed that the consultant mentioned was employed, part-time, as a publicity officer (i) in the Department of Health from January to July, 1966, and (ii) in the Department of Education from July, 1966, to the 12th August, 1969, at a fee of £50 a month. He was employed in the Government Information Bureau— attached to my Department—from 12th August to the 24th September last year at a fee of £200 a month, in a journalistic capacity to assist with additional work in the bureau arising out of the situation in Northern Ireland.
