Vol. 246 No. 10

Written Answers. - Turnover Tax.

16.

asked the Minister for Finance the annual total amount of turnover tax collected from retail pharmacists; and the proportion thereof attributable to sales of medicines for humans.

Turnover tax is payable monthly in one sum by registered persons on their total receipts from sales of taxable goods to unregistered persons. A breakdown of the receipts to give the total amount collected from retail pharmacists is not made; and even if this information were available it would not be possible to state the amount of tax attributable to medicines as distinct from other commodities dealt in by chemists.
