Vol. 247 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Disposal of House Property.

28.

asked the Minister for Finance what steps will be taken for the future disposal of the house property recently in dispute and in which his Department has a financial interest.

It is assumed that the question refers to No. 1 Hume Street and No. 46 St. Stephen's Green, Dublin.

It is not intended to dispose of the State's interest in No. 1 Hume Street and No. 46 St. Stephen's Green in the near future.

Would the Minister agree, before disposing of them in the more distant future, to receive representations from interested parties?

I am always open to receive representation.

The Minister is aware of the cultural interest of his predecessor in this property and would the Minister continue the welcome attitude which his predecessor adopted in relation to the disposal of this property?

That would be a separate question.

No decision has been made in regard to the manner of disposal of this property.

But the Minister is aware that his predecessor met representatives of the people there and had given them to understand that there would be a change in the Government attitude on the disposal of these properties?

No, I do not think that is correct because the decision about the disposal has not been changed but no decision has been made as to the manner of disposal. My predecessor did receive representations which are available to me.

Would the Minister consider following the example of his predecessor and meeting representatives at this stage?

I have already indicated to Deputy FitzGerald that I am willing to listen to anybody who wishes to make representations.
