Vol. 247 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Quota Restrictions.

54.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce what items of manufactured goods, apart from footwear at present on import quota, will be removed from quota restrictions during the period of fulfilment of the Anglo-Irish Free Trade Agreement; and at what stage and time.

Under the terms of the Anglo-Irish Free Trade Area Agreement provision was made for the immediate removal of certain quota restrictions and the temporary retention of others. The quota restrictions on leather footwear will be removed on 1st July, 1970. The provisions of the agreement will then apply to quota restrictions on electric filament lamps, women's stockings, sparking plugs, laminated springs and brushes. Under these provisions, the quota restrictions on electric filament lamps fall to be abolished on 1st July, 1971 and the quota restrictions on the remaining commodities will, subject to substantial annual increases in the meantime, be abolished on 1st July, 1975—
