The Sweepstake Committee consists of approximately eighty persons—doctors and others— appointed by the governing bodies of various hospitals.
As I have no function whatsoever in relation to their appointment I would not consider it appropriate that I should publish their names, especially as the only information relating to the Hospitals Sweepstakes which the relevant Act—the Public Hospitals Act, 1933—requires to be made public is a copy of the audited accounts which is required to be supplied to every Member of the Oireachtas.
I should perhaps point out that, in practice, this committee does not itself run the sweepstakes—this is done for them by Hospitals Trust (1940) Ltd.— but if the Deputy, nevertheless, wishes to ascertain the names of the members it is of course open to him to write to the committee.
