Vol. 248 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - School of Retail Distribution.

44.

asked the Minister for Education if a school can occupy premises which have been officially condemned as dangerous.

Where any such case is brought to the attention of the Department it is investigated immediately. I am assuming that the Deputy's question relates to the buildings in Parnell Square in which the School of Retail Distribution is housed. The position there is that the City of Dublin Vocational Education Committee was notified on Friday last that one of these buildings is in a dangerous condition. I understand that the committee is seeking other premises for the school in question.

45.

asked the Minister for Education if he intends to act on the report of the working party set up by the City of Dublin Vocational Education Committee in 1964-65 to decide the format which a new school of retail distribution should take.

It is a matter in the first instance for the City of Dublin Vocational Education Committee to submit proposals to my Department regarding the provision of a school of retail distribution. As explained in my reply to the Deputy's previous question on 9th June there will be no delay in having proposals examined in my Department when they are received.
