asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the cost to date in respect of Bailey bridges at Banagher and Shannon Bridge, County Offaly; the total amount paid to date; by whom it has been paid; and to whom such amounts were paid to date.

The Bailey bridges over the River Shannon at Banagher and Shannon Bridge, County Offaly, were provided by the Commissioners of Public Works. The total expenditure by them up to 31st March, 1970, amounted to approximately £18,500, including maintenance. The main contractors who provided and erected the Bailey spans are Messrs Collen Bros (Dublin) Ltd; payments were also made to Messrs GEC-Elliott Traffic Automation Ltd., Middlesex, for traffic lights and to the Hibernian Insurance Company for public liability insurance.
