Vol. 248 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Infectious diseases.

9.

asked the Minister for Health if he will give a breakdown under the usual heading of the cases of infectious diseases notified in Dublin for the most recent available period; and whether the practice of including these details in the weekly figures issued by the Dublin Health Authority has been changed.

I presume that the question relates to the return of notifications of infectious diseases issued weekly by Dublin Health Authority.

I understand that there has been no change in the details in respect of which information is furnished in the returns issued by the health authority.

As the return is in the form of a tabular statement I propose, a Cheann Comhairle, to have it issued with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:

Number of cases of Infectious Diseases notified to the Chief Medical Officer, Dublin Health Authority in respect of the week ended 4/7/70.

Did I understand the Minister to say that there has been no change? The breakdown that used be given regularly in the newspapers has not been given in recent times.

In reply to the Deputy, there has been no change. Returns are strictly made to my Department. The last return, for example, was for the week ended 4th July but the newspapers are not compelled to publish these figures. Perhaps that is why the Deputy has not seen them or, maybe, missed them.
