asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware that under section 17 of the Landlord and Tenant (Ground Rents) Act 1967 certain tenants have the right to arbitration before the County Registrar, but that these rights do not extend to certain tenants of the Proby Estate, Dún Laoghaire; and if he is prepared to introduce amending legislation to cover these cases.

A new Landlord and Tenant Bill is at present being drafted. It arises out of recommendations made by the Landlord and Tenant Commission and will propose to extend the right to acquire the fee simple, or the right to a new lease, to tenants on the Proby Estate in accordance with the recommendations of the commission.
The right to arbitration as contained in section 17 of the 1967 Act will, of course, follow.
