Vol. 248 No. 9

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Offaly Road.

63.

asked the Minister for Local Government what the present position is in regard to road construction at Dunkerrin, County Offaly on the main Dublin/Limerick road; why work is not in progress; if the course of the road proposed is about to be altered; further, whether decisions will be given so that local land owners and residents of the village will know the position which appears to be, at the moment, one of uncertainty; and if he will make a general statement in regard to this whole affair concerning the road convenient to the village of Dunkerrin.

Proposals were submitted to my Department by Offaly County Council for a scheme to improve the Dublin/Limerick road at Dunkerrin on 6th November, 1969.

A section of the scheme was approved on 17th December, 1969. In relation to the balance of the scheme the council were asked to investigate alternative lines of improvement. A report on the results of this investigation has not yet been received from the road authority.

Pending the submission of this report I am not in a position to make any further comment.
