Vol. 248 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tranquilliser Drugs.

11.

asked the Minister for Health if he will elaborate on his statement in Limerick last week concerning the issue of tranquilliser drugs under the current medical card system.

I could not elaborate in reply to a Parliamentary question on the statement referred to except to say that my general comment on the use of the preparations referred to did not apply specifically to persons covered by medical cards in the Dublin area. This information was given purely for purposes of illustration.

I dealt with this question in considerable detail in introducing the Estimate for my Department in Dáil Éireann on 8th April last. I would refer the Deputy to columns 1058 to 1060 of the Official Report of that date.
