asked the Minister for Transport and Power the total personnel by categories of officers and other ranks serving in Irish registered merchant ships on 30th June, 1970.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power the number personnel serving in Irish registered merchant ships who hold an Extra-Master's Certificate.

An Extra-Master's Certificate is an optional higher qualification not required for sea going service. I am not aware that there are any officers at present serving on Irish registered merchant ships who hold an Extra Master's Certificate.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power the name, owner's name, port of registry and gross registered tonnage of each merchant ship registered in the state at 30th June, 1970.

The information sought by the Deputy is contained in the statutory register maintained in the General Register and Record Office, 27 Eden Quay, Dublin, pursuant to the Mercantile Marine Act, 1955. The register is available for inspection upon payment of the appropriate fee of 13s.
