Within the next fortnight, a competition, to be conducted by the Civil Service Commissioners, will be announced for appointments as welfare officer in my Department. Seven appointments, at least, will be made from this competition and, next year, there will be further appointments, to bring the staff on this service to 40 in all which will be comprised of one administrative officer, three senior welfare officers, 26 welfare officers and ten clerical assistants.
