Vol. 249 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Gardaí at Funeral.

78.

asked the Minister for Justice if a contingent of gardaí both uniformed members and members of the Special Branch was present at the graveside at the funeral of a person (name supplied); and, if so, why.

The allocation of gardaí for duty on a particular occasion, the number of members to be allocated and the question whether they should be in uniform, are matters for determination by the Garda authorities and I am not prepared to make any statement other than to point out that the circumstances in which gardaí were on duty on this occasion are a matter of common knowledge.
