Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Connaught Rangers' Funerals.

111.

asked the Minister for Defence why an official Army guard of honour was not provided for the funeral ceremonies of the three Connaught Rangers who mutinied in India in 1920 in sympathy with the struggle of the Irish people.

112.

asked the Minister for Defence why the Army was not present to render honours at the funeral of James Daly at Tyrellspass on Sunday 1st November.

With your permission, a Leas-Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 111 and 112 together.

The funeral arrangements in connection with the re-interment of the remains of the three men in question were entrusted by their relatives to the National Graves Association who intimated that they did not desire any participation by the Defence Forces in the funeral ceremonies.
