asked the Minister for Local Government if in view of the very valuable work done by co-operative housing societies such as St. Canice's, Dublin City and the South Dublin Co-operative Housing Society in providing low cost housing, consideration will be given by Dublin Corporation, Dublin County Council and Dún Laoghaire Borough Corporation to the further allocation of low-cost sites to these societies.

The allocation of private housing sites is a matter for the local authorities concerned. I asked local authorities by circular letter, on the 19th October, 1970, to adopt a helpful and positive attitude to co-operative housing groups and suggested a number of measures, including the allocation of a reasonable proportion of available sites, that they might adopt to foster the development of such groups. I am having a copy of the circular letter sent to the Deputy.
