Agreement on price was reached with the owner in October and possession of this 92 acre property passed to the Land Commission last week. It is as yet too early to say when the lands can be allotted.

asked the Minister for Lands what the cause of the delay is in getting the Flanagan estate, Hillsworth, Kilconnell, County Galway, listed for the land court.
I understand that the appeal lodged on behalf of the owner against the price fixed by the Land Commission for this 164-acre estate has been listed for hearing, in its due turn, on 27th of this month. However, a request has been received from the owner's solicitors seeking an adjournment to the next term, commencing January, 1971.

asked the Minister for Lands if and when the Land Commission intend to divide the following holdings of land which are in their possession: the Giblin estate, Aughawer, Castlecoote, Roscommon; O'Brien estate, Aughadag, Castlecoote; Coughlan estate, Aughagad, Castlecoote; and Breheny estate, Aughagad, Castlecoote.
The Land Commission have, for some time, been endeavouring to accumulate a pool of land in this area in order to facilitate the formulation of a comprehensive scheme of rearrangement and enlargement of fragmented holdings in the locality.
Possession of the four properties referred to by the Deputy, aggregating 304 acres, has already passed to the Land Commission.
I understand that preliminary inquiries on the ground are about to commence but, as yet, I am unable to forecast when allocation will be effected.
Is the Minister aware that some of this land has been in the possession of the Land Commission since 1961? I can fully agree with the Minister in the case he has made that he must get a pool of land in an area before you can have a comprehensive scheme but one holding in particular, the O'Brien estate, has been in the hands of the Land Commission since 1961 while others were acquired by the Land Commission in the mean-time. The local people in that area——
