Vol. 249 No. 11

Ceisteanna — Questions Oral Answers. - Dublin Corporation Housing.

42.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of families of five on Dublin Corporation housing list at the latest available date.

43.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of families of six and over on Dublin Corporation housing list at the latest available date.

44.

asked the Minister for Local Government the total number of families of three on Dublin Corporation housing list at the latest available date.

45.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of families of four on Dublin Corporation housing list at the latest available date.

46.

asked the Minister for Local Government the total number of families on the waiting list for Dublin Corporation dwellings which consist of (a) seven persons and over, (b) six and over, (c) five and over, (d) four and under; and the conditions which have to be fulfilled by applicants to obtain a certificate of recommendation from the chief medical officer of health.

I propose with your permission, a Leas-Cheann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 42, 43, 44, 45 and 46 together.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 96 of 18th June, 1970. I have not received any more up-to-date information from the Corporation since then.

I understand, however, that a comprehensive review of the waiting list is in progress and that the results of this review will be made available to me in due course.

As regards the latter part of Deputy L'Estrange's question, a copy of Dublin Corporation's approved scheme of letting priorities is on display to the public in the corporation's housing department, Jervis Street, together with a short summary of the scheme. Copies of the scheme are available also at public libraries.

Will the Minister provide this information in reply to a parliamentary question as soon as it becomes available?

Yes. I am quite willing to give to the House any information available in my Department.

Would he obtain this information for Deputies who are concerned to know exactly the number of people on the waiting list?

The review is going on at the moment. An advertisement appeared on 18th September. I have not got an approved list yet or an indication of the figures——

The review is completed. Furthermore, public libraries did not have copies of this booklet. I phoned each of the public libraries concerned.

The approved letting priorities? I am informed that copies are available in the public libraries.

I was told this by the Minister's predecessor. I went to considerable trouble to phone every library in Dublin city and they had not this booklet. This is not good enough.

That is the Deputy's information. I think my source might be more reliable.

This is a fact. I could not get the booklet from the libraries.

Give the information and stop the messing. If the booklets are not available, give the information.

If the public libraries have mislaid the copies, I am sure Dublin Corporation would be only too willing to let the Deputy have a copy of the booklet.

The Minister is most unco-operative.

47.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of flats and tenancy houses built by Dublin Corporation in each of the past five years.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose with your permission, a Leas-Cheann Comhairle, to circulate it with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:—

Dublin Corporation housing return shows that the number of flats and tenancy houses completed by them during the past five years was as follows:

48.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of flats and tenancy houses expected to be completed by Dublin Corporation in the present year.

Dublin Corporation estimate that they will complete 1,100 weekly tenancy dwellings in 1970-71. They hope, also, to make about 300 new houses available for purchase.

Would the Minister be able to give a breakdown of that 1,100 tenancy dwellings?

I was not asked that question.

The number of flats and tenancy houses.

I have given it.

The Minister said "dwellings".

Weekly tenancy includes flats.

Could I have the figure for each? It will do if the Minister will send me the information.

I shall give it later to the Deputy.
