Vol. 249 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Donegal, Leitrim, County Dublin Rates.

39.

asked the Minister for Local Government the rate in the £1 in 1965 and 1970 in Donegal, Leitrim and County Dublin.

The rates in the pound levied by Donegal, Leitrim and Dublin County Councils in the current financial year are 119/10.77d, 100/3.3d, and 75/3d respectively. The rates levied by these local authorities in 1965-66 are set out in the Returns of Local Taxation for that year.

Is it in order for the Minister to tell us that the rates are set out in the Returns of Local Taxation? The Government have civil servants and others at their disposal to get this information. Do they expect us to root through different books to get this information?

I am trying to be of assistance to the Deputy by giving the reference.

Many of us have a lot more to do than looking up references. Is the Minister aware that even Mr. Boland, who was arrogant enough at times, always gave us this information; but then he turned out to be an honourable man in the end?

Would Deputy L'Estrange please allow questions to proceed? I am calling Question No. 40.
