asked the Minister for Education if he will state as regards the Commission on Accommodation for Universities (1) the commencing date of the commission and the date of the final report; (2) the names of the members of the commission; (3) the names of the bodies and individuals from which the commission received evidence; (4) the number of students for whom provision was requested by the following university colleges viz. (a) UCD, (b) UCC, (c) UCG, (d) Trinity College, (e) May-nooth; (5) the provision recommended by the commission for the following colleges viz. (a) UCD, (b) UCC, (c) UCG, (d) Trinity College, (e) May-nooth; and (6) the total cost to the State of the commission.

The terms of reference of the commission in question required it to inquire into the accommodation needs of the constituent colleges of the National University of Ireland only. The commission was not concerned with the accommodation requirements of either Trinity College, Dublin, or of St. Patrick's College, Maynooth.

The information requested by the Deputy in parts (1), (2) and (3) of his question is contained in the commission's published report, as is also the information requested in parts (4) and (5) in relation to UCD, UCC, and UCG.

The cost of the commission's work was included amongst my Department's general administrative expenses and it would not be possible to extract particulars of the cost at this stage.
