Vol. 250 No. 4

Return to Writs: Donegal-Leitrim and South County Dublin. - Landlord and Tenant Bill, 1970: First Stage.

Leave granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to reform, consolidate and amend the law relating to landlord and tenant as contained in the Landlord and Tenant Acts, 1931 to 1967, and in certain related provisions of the Rent Restrictions Acts, 1960 and 1967, and, in particular, to extend, with effect from the 3rd day of March, 1970, certain rights under that law, including a right to an association using land for outdoor recreational purposes to obtain a reversionary lease, and to provide for certain other matters connected with the matters aforesaid.
—(Minister for Justice.)
Second Stage ordered for first sitting day after the Christmas Recess.

What is important about the Finance (No. 2) Bill, since every single proposal in it is now being implemented? What is important about the Decimal Currency Bill?

Deputies

Hear, hear.

As far as the Transport Bill is concerned, let me say, on behalf of my party, that that can be disposed of in two minutes flat and also the Exchange Control (Continuance) Bill. What I want the House to realise and, in particular, the public is that the Offences Against the State Act was brought in in 1940——

By Fianna Fáil.

The Deputy should resume his seat and allow business to continue.

I believe this is the most important business that can be discussed by Dáil Éireann. That is the reason I am insisting on a debate and I deplore the decision of the Ceann Comhairle, and the attitude of the Taoiseach, who says we are not going to debate this.

The Deputy should control himself.

The Ceann Comhairle says that people are not interned yet but all the admissions as far as the Taoiseach and the Government are concerned are to intern——

The Deputy will resume his seat and allow business to proceed in an orderly manner. No. 4.
