asked the Minister for Defence if he will state the number of men who (a) left the Army and (b) joined the Army in each of the past five years.

It is presumed that the information required by the Deputy relates to the permanent Defence Force, excluding the Naval Service. As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate it in the Official Report.
