I assume that the report referred to by the Deputies is that issued in July last by the Committee on Industrial Progress on the paper. paper products, printing and publishing industry.
I would point out that, while the report states the newspapers' case the committee makes no recommendation in the matter of exempting newspapers, periodicals and magazines from turnover and wholesale tax.
Consequently no new case has been made which would justify departing from the decision taken earlier not to exempt newspapers, periodicals and magazines from these taxes.
