Vol. 251 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ambulance Drivers' Wages.

4.

asked the Minister for Health if he intends to grant an increase in ambulance drivers' wages; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My sanction has been conveyed to local health authorities for payment of the first and second phases of the "12th Round" increases in remuneration to ambulance drivers in their service.

I understand that negotiations are in progress between the trade union representing ambulance drivers and the County and City Managers' Association, representing the health authorities, on the subject of improved allowances for overtime and on-call duties. Should these negotiations result in the submission of proposals for my approval, they will receive prompt attention.

The Minister will agree that this is purely a matter between the trade union and the local authorities?

That is right.
