asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the financial assistance towards the production of pigs each year from 1967.

Financial assistance from the Exchequer towards the production of pigs was as follows for the financial years indicated:

The principal form of assistance to the pig industry is the scheme of price support for pigmeat exports. Assistance is also provided under scheme of grants for farrowed sows in 12 western counties and by way of grants for new piggeries and the repair of existing piggeries, grants towards the cost of pig progeny testing in accredited herds, and the purchase of stock pigs for leasing to pedigree breeders.
