Vol. 251 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Offaly School.

18.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the proposed new national school in Shinrone, County Offaly; when he expects that work will commence on this school; and if he will make a general statement on the matter.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply given to him on 19th May, 1970. Since then the accommodation to be provided at Shinrone new national school has been revised to cater for the pupils from Pike national school. The Commissioners of Public Works have been asked to furnish sketch plans and cost estimates accordingly. On receipt of same the further arrangements leading to the building of the school will proceed without delay.

I am unable to say at this stage when building work may commence.

Can I take it that the Minister has, in fact, committed himself to building this new school?

Thank you.
