In the four-month period 1st October, 1970 to 31st January, 1971, 2,750 loans to the value of £5,270,000 were approved by the corporation as against 2,315 loans to the value of £3,731,000 in the corresponding period of the previous year. As the above figures show, there has in fact been a substantial increase in the number of loans approved.
