Vol. 251 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin All-Irish School.

19.

asked the Minister for Education whether he has received a request for the opening of an all-Irish school at Ballymun, Dublin; and whether he will make a statement on the matter.

An application has been made to my Department for the recognition of an all-Irish school at Ballymun. The matter is at present being investigated.

The Deputy will understand, of course, that this application will have the full sympathy and assistance of my Department. The initial steps must, however, be taken by the parents concerned who must produce evidence that sufficient support for the school would be forthcoming to ensure that it would be an educationally viable unit.

If their rents were reduced it would be more beneficial.

Is there any provision for additional assistance to such schools?
