asked the Minister for Local Government if he will arrange to make it obligatory for heavy transport, such as lorries, buses, etc., to have a green rear indicator so that the driver can indicate to the traffic behind that it is safe to overtake; and, if not, why.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Lighting of Vehicles.
53.
The regulations relating to the lighting of vehicles place restrictions on the lighting and colours which may be used. These restrictions are based on an internationally agreed colour code which permits white or yellow lights to the front, red to the rear and amber to the sides of a vehicle. In this country other colours such as blue flashers are reserved for special emergency vehicles. Pending international agreement on the uses of other lighting-colours such as green, I do not propose to adopt the Deputy's suggestion.
