asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the number of cows and heifers found affected by brucellosis; the average price per animal paid; the estimated number of female animals yet to be tested; and the number already tested.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement I propose with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate it with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:

1. In the brucellosis disease free area and the brucellosis clearance area, all female animals aged 12 months and over and all bulls aged nine months and over are subject to periodic testing.

2. From the commencement of the eradication scheme up to 30th November, 1970, 12,006 cow reactors and 1,984 other reactor animals (heifers and bulls) were taken up by my Department.

3. The average prices paid for reactor animals in each year since the commencement of the eradication scheme were:
