Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Housing Finance.

41.

asked the Minister for Local Government the amount of money voted for housing in the last Budget; and the total sums paid out to local authorities and individuals up to 1st January, 1971.

The total budget provision made for housing in 1970-71 was £40,483,000, of which £36,220,000 was for capital services, such as the building of local authority houses and the making of loans and grants for private houses, and £4,263,000 was for housing subsidy. Expenditure in the nine months ended on the 1st January, 1971, was affected by the bank dispute and amounted to approximately £14,700,000. Provisional figures for January and February, 1971, indicate that a further £20 million approximately was issued or expended in these months.
