As local authorities require land for building on only a fraction of the estates taken over by the Land Commission, the offer of land on each estate would entail unnecessary work for both the Land Commission and local authorities.
The long-standing practice whereby local authorities apply to the Land Commission for lands required by them on specific estates would appear to be the most satisfactory for both sides. The Land Commission have given and will continue to give, sympathetic consideration to applications by local authorities for building sites.
