Vol. 252 No. 9

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take business in the following order: No. 14, Votes 48 and 49, 28, 29, 30, 32, 40 and 8. Questions will be taken at 2.30 p.m.

Could the Taoiseach tell us when No. 26 on page 363 of the Order Paper will be taken? It is necessary to have this disposed of within seven sitting days after the making of the order. Perhaps the Taoiseach or his Parliamentary Secretary would be able to advise us during the morning?

If the Deputy now and again would give me some intimation of these questions I might be in a position to answer him, instead of springing them on me like this.

Do not be narky now.

I am not a bit narky. I am suggesting——

Let me put it this way: it is down now under Private Members' time. Any Deputy in the House has the right to put down a motion under the order. Will the Government give time for it to be taken because otherwise it will have to encroach on Private Members' time?

There is a statutory limit obviously and it will be taken within the statutory limit, perhaps the first day or second day after the Easter Recess.

Within seven days?

Anyway, I shall check on it and make sure that it will be dealt with in time.

Thank you very much. I am sure my question is the least of the Taoiseach's difficulties.

A phone call in the morning might have helped to get the Deputy his answer.

We do not have the same facilities as the Taoiseach or the same staff resources.
