Vol. 252 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Survey of Fishing Ports.

66.

andMr. P. Browne asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will arrange for a survey of fishing ports and landing places on the south and east coasts to be carried out by special survey teams as has been done already for the west coast.

The answer to the question is "yes". The position is that the survey teams to which the Deputies refer have already furnished reports on fishery harbour facilities required along the coasts of Counties Donegal, Leitrim, Sligo, Mayo, Galway, Clare and South Kerry. They will shortly complete their report on County Cork and this will be followed in a few months time by a report on North Kerry. I am arranging that the teams will then continue with surveys of the coasts of Counties Waterford, Wexford, Wicklow, Dublin, Meath and Louth in that order.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary say if the actual fishing ports have yet been selected for survey?

They are surveying all the fish-landing places on the east coast.

They must have some places in mind.

The entire coast—any place where fish is landed.
