Vol. 253 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Social Welfare Assistance.

32.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he is aware that a family of four children (name supplied) are deprived of all assistance and children's allowances and orphans' allowances; and if he will investigate the matter.

Only two of the four children in the family to which the Deputy refers are qualified for either children's allowances or orphans' (contributory) allowances and these allowances are in fact being paid in respect of them. The other two children are disqualified by reason of age. The award of the children's allowances in this case was made as soon as the necessary claim form, which was submitted belatedly, was received. In the case of the orphans' (contributory) allowances, however, some delay occurred due to difficulty in tracing the insurance record of the deceased father.

They are receiving the orphans' allowances now?

Yes.

Question No. 33 postponed.
