Vol. 253 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Communications from Northern Ireland Government.

2.

asked the Taoiseach if he has had any communications from the Northern Ireland Government since the appointment of Mr. Brian Faulkner as Prime Minister; and if he is prepared to make a statement on the matter.

There has been no formal communication from the Northern Ireland Government but, as Deputies will be aware from the recent meeting in Dublin between senior officials, there is no barrier to, or difficulty about, informal communications at various levels.

Is it the Taoiseach's intention at any time to invite any members of the Northern Ireland Government to meet him or members of the Government?

Last week I stated in reply to a parliamentary question that the talks to which I have referred today would, I hope, lead to meetings between Ministers.
