Vol. 253 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Castlegregory (Kerry) Houses.

56.

asked the Minister for Local Government the date on which his Department received a tender from Kerry County Council in connection with the erection of four houses at Castlegregory; and if he will give the names and addresses of those who submitted tenders.

Kerry County Council propose to provide the four houses at Castlegregory by direct labour. I approved of their estimate for the scheme on the 31st March, 1971. Tenders were not invited for the scheme.

There is no question of tenders being involved.

No, there is not.

A certain amount of bluff is being used here either by the Minister or the local TD. According to a letter in the local paper he was informed by Deputy Molloy, the Minister for Local Government, that he had sanctioned the tender to erect four houses in Castlegregory. This is real bluff and nothing else.

Does the Deputy not want to see houses built?

(Interruptions.)

It was of main concern to Senator Ahern, Deputy McEllistrim, Deputy O'Leary and the people of Castlegregory who were all interested in this matter.

Some people who have been members of this House for 40 years have not done very much to erect houses in County Kerry.
