Vol. 253 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Radio Licences.

77.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs why notifications of the need to renew broadcasting receiving licences issued by the wireless section of his Department do not state the charge for a radio licence; if he will have the omission rectified in future; and, if not, why.

Existing stocks of broadcasting licence renewal notices were ordered before a decision had been reached on RTE's application for revised licence fees. As an increased level of fees was expected it was decided to omit reference to the amount of the fee. However, as several complaints have been received about the fact that the amounts of fees are not shown, arrangements are being made, pending a re-print, for renewal notices to bear a rubber stamp impression showing the appropriate fees.
