I have asked the Civil Service Commissioners who are statutorily responsible for the holding of competitions to consider this suggestion.
If the age limit were extended members of the Defence Force who served during the Emergency and in the United Nations would qualify and it would be a gesture showing our gratitude if the same concession were granted to these as is granted to civil servants and local authority officers.
I said I have asked the Civil Service Commissioners to consider this. They are the people statutorily responsible for the competitions. I have recommended the suggestion to them.
