Vol. 253 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Factory Closures.

51.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he has any record of the number of factories and business concerns closed down or gone into voluntary liquidation since 1st July, 1969 and, if so, if he will give a list of such concerns in so far as his Department has records.

There is no obligation on an undertaking to notify my Department that it is closing or has closed down, and no list of such closures is maintained in the Department.

52.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that it is over four months since the C.W.S. bacon factory, Tralee closed down thus depriving approximately 90 people of employment; and if his Department has yet secured an alternative industry for the town.

I would refer the Deputy to the answer which I gave to a similar question on 25th March, 1971. I regret I have nothing further to report at this stage.
