asked the Minister for Labour the number of employees of State and semi-State bodies under the aegis of his Department at present in receipt of £2,500 per annum and upwards; and if he will indicate the total amount of salaries paid annually to them.

There are 37 employees of An Chomhairle Oiliúna and CERT Ltd. with salaries of £2,500 a year and over and their salaries total £113,560 a year.

asked the Minister for Labour if he will state in respect of the years ended 31st March, 1956 and 31st March, 1971 (a) the total debt of State and semi-State bodies under the aegis of his Department and (b) the cost of servicing such debt.

The bodies concerned had not been set up on 31st March, 1956. The position on 31st March, 1971, was:

(a) Nil.

(b) Nil.

(a) The terms as to interest and repayment have not yet been determined by the Minister for Finance; this sum has been invested in the food processing project which is still at the development stage.

(b) By arrangement with the Minister for Finance interest is not at present payable on £451,843 of these advances which have been used for special re-equipment loans in lieu of the adaptation grants and are interest-free for five years.

(c) The terms as to interest and repayment have not yet been determined by the Minister for Finance.
