asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware of further difficulties which have arisen in regard to compliance with the conditions of the Fire Department of Dún Laoghaire Corporation in respect of the Gas Company's Theatre, Dún Laoghaire, County Dublin; and if he will favourably consider making a grant so as to enable the required work to be undertaken so that the residents of and visitors to Dún Laoghaire may continue to have the amenity available.

I have seen newspaper reports of difficulties in regard to the continued operation of the Gas Company's Theatre in Dún Laoghaire. I have not been approached for financial aid towards the alterations requested nor could I give any undertaking that if so approached I would be in a position to help.
I understand, however, that the problem of complying with the requirements of the Fire Department of Dún Laoghaire Corporation is not entirely a financial one but that it could adversely affect the operation of the Gas Company's commercial premises of which it forms a part. The matter is sub judice as there are court proceedings pending.
