Vol. 254 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

43.

asked the Minister for Local Government when his Department will give sanction for the Tooreen-Aughamore group water scheme in County Mayo.

As the Deputy was informed by my Department on 26th May, there has been no change in the position as indicated in my reply to his Question No. 51 on 25th March, 1971. I cannot, therefore, say at this stage when sanction will be given for the scheme.

44.

asked the Minister for Local Government the position regarding the group water scheme for Dunkerrin, Moneygall, Birr, County Offaly.

The design for this scheme, to serve 162 houses, was received in my Department recently. It is being submitted to Offaly and Tipperary North Riding County Councils for their formal approval.

45.

asked the Minister for Local Government when it is proposed to commence work on the group water scheme at Gaggin, Bandon, County Cork.

No proposal for a group water supply scheme in this area is before my Department.

46.

asked the Minister for Local Government when it is proposed to commence work on the Lislehanebeg (Pike Cross) group water scheme, Kinsale, County Cork.

There is no proposal before my Department for a group water supply scheme for this area.

47.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the Inistioge water supply scheme, County Kilkenny.

I have confirmed a provisional order made by the county council for the acquisition of water rights required in connection with this project. Contract documents have been approved and the scheme can now be advertised for tender.

48.

asked the Minister for Local Government if there are any proposals in his Department regarding a sewerage scheme for 46 houses at Lackabawn, Dromnahilla and Lower Tullig, Millstreet, County Cork.

Preliminary proposals are before my Department for Millstreet sewerage improvement and extension scheme, which will serve the areas mentioned. However, on the basis of the latest information available to me, the local authority do not regard the scheme as having a high priority in their water and sewerage programme.

49.

asked the Minister for Local Government when the proposed sewerage scheme for Enniscrone, County Sligo, will be proceeded with; and if he is satisfied that this scheme will not pollute the beach or the very popular bathing place at the pier.

Contract documents for the scheme are under examination in my Department and in this connection further technical information has been requested of the local authority. The advice available to me is that the operation of the scheme will not result in any pollution of the bathing areas at the beach or pier.
