Vol. 254 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kilkenny Telephone System.

75.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the severe deterioration in recent weeks in the telephone system in Kilkenny; and what steps are being taken to remedy the position.

Owing to a rapid growth in call traffic, the switching equipment at Kilkenny automatic exchange is inadequate during busy periods. Relief measures are already in hand. These include the installation of additional equipment which is at present in progress and which will improve the service in about a month's time.

Will the Minister keep the service under review so that improvement will keep pace with development in Kilkenny?

I shall certainly try to do that.
