With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 153 and 154 together.

My Department has employed Messrs McKinsey and Company. The survey which relates to local authority staff structure and procedures has commenced and is expected to take about four months. Four consultants will be involved on a full-time basis, with the assistance of other employees of the consultancy firm as may be required. The estimated cost of the survey, including expenses, travelling, and the production is £36,000.

No State body under the aegis of my Department has engaged management consultants.
