Vol. 255 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Motor Silencer Exhausts.

18.

asked the Minister for Finance if a firm (name supplied) have imported motor silencer systems into the Republic duty free; and if any concessions have been granted to them which have not been granted to other firms outside this country.

The import transactions of individual concerns must be treated as confidential. The general position is, however, that under a concession announced by the Minister for Industry and Commerce in 1965 dutyfree licences are available for the importation of motor vehicle silencer exhausts manufactured by native Northern Ireland firms.

I would hope there would be no objection to this. The suggestion in the question is that there is objection.

I have not heard any objection.

The suggestion in the question is that here is objection.

If the Deputy wishes to interpret the question in his own fashion he may. I asked the question. The Deputy cannot read my mind.
