asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce what formal or informal committees are at present in existence in his Department; the terms of reference of such committees; when they were set up; the cost to date; and when it is expected that the reports of such committees will be available.

The information requested by the Deputy is set out in a tabular statement which, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to circulate with the Official Report. Following is the statement:

1. Committee of Enquiry into insurance Industry

To enquire into the insurance industry in Ireland, including the operation of the Insurance Acts 1909 to 1964, and to make any recommendations that may seem to be desirable in relation to the development and organisation of the industry and the supervision of its operations in the public interest.

The Interim Report on Motor Insurance is expected to be available by the end of 1971. The final report dealing with the Insurance Industry generally is unlikely to be available before the end of 1972 at the earliest.

2. Committee on Industrial Progress.

To assess the progress made by Irish industry in its preparation for free trade conditions with particular reference to marketing and product policies.

Reports by the Committee on five industries have been of Department.!published to date. Further reports are at an advanced stage of preparation.

3. Committee on Shipping Costs

To examine the relative costs of exporting goods (other than live animals) to the European Continent—

4. Flour and Bread Prices Advisory Body

To enquire generally into, and report to the Minister upon:—

(a) the prices charged for wheaten flour, wheatenmeal and wheaten grain offals by millers immediately before the commencement of the Order;

(b) proposals by millers to increase the prices charged by them immediately before the commencement of the Order for wheaten flour and wheatenmeal;

(c) the prices charged for bread made from wheaten flour, wheatenmeal or both wheaten flour and wheatenmeal by bakers before the commencement of the Order; and

(d) proposals by bakers to increase the prices charged by them immediately before the commencement of the Order for bread made from wheaten flour, wheatenmeal, or both wheaten flour and wheatenmeal.
