In the 12 month period ended 25th June, 1971, I received 14 proposals to increase prices and charges from certain semi-State bodies and 391 proposals from the private sector. Proposals to increase prices or charges by State or semi-State bodies which are the concern of other Ministers are dealt with by those Ministers.
The figures for the average percentage increase requested by the Deputy are not available because, in a substantial number of cases, a different rate of price increase was allowed for a number of different products of the same firm.
