Vol. 255 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Phoenix Park Golf Course.

21.

asked the Minister for Finance the present position regarding the provision of a municipal golf course in the Phoenix Park, Dublin.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to a question on this subject on April 27th 1971. As I stated then some of the land required for the proposed golf course is let. Good progress is being made with proposals to meet this problem.

Could the Parliamentary Secretary inform us whether this will be an 18 hole golf course or a nine hole golf course?

The original proposal envisaged a nine hole golf course with areas of land available for extension later on to 18 holes. We are now going into the question of getting these temporary lettings back, the cost, and so on, and I hope to be able to report on the matter later.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary give the people an 18 hole golf course?

That will be a matter for Government decision when I have completed my report.

The remaining questions will appear on tomorrow's Order Paper. Might I point out that in one hour the House has dealt with only 21 questions?

They had to be dealt with.

On the Order of Business——

We are not on the Order of Business now.

On the order of questions, I would like to ask why a very important question I put down about the shortage of parts for lifts in Ballymun has not been allowed?

Would the Deputy please resume his seat?

There are over 30 lifts broken and the House accepts no responsibility for them.

The Deputy should behave himself in Parliament.

The Minister and the Government should look after the lifts they brought in from Finland.

Would the Deputy please resume his seat and allow business to continue?

We have to behave ourselves here. This is a responsible Parliament.

What about the night the Minister was coming out through the window in Trinity?
