Vol. 255 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Port Cattle Lairages.

40.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he is satisfied that adequate cattle lairages for the store and live fat cattle trade will exist for the next ten years at Dublin port; and, if not, what action he proposes to take in the matter.

The provision of lairages for cattle awaiting shipment is a commercial function normally undertaken by the shipping companies concerned or alternatively by the relevant port authorities. My Department keeps under constant review the adequacy of the facilities so provided, and will continue to do this and will take up from time to time with those concerned any inadequacy in such facilities.
